#bible #reading of the day: #rise and #fall and #restoration

Today's bible reading led me to the book of Daniel, telling us the story of king Nebuchadnezzar, his rise, his fall and his restauration. It is a shocking story and one that opens our eyes to focus on the important things of life. It tells us that all earthly power belongs to God.

Daniel 4:37b: Those who walk in pride He is able to put down.

In German that is Daniel 4:34b: Wer stolz ist, den kann er demütigen.

"[...] In order that the living may know

That the Most High rules in

the kingdom of men,

Gives it to whomever He will,

And sets over it the lowest of men."

Daniel 4:17 (English bible version)

"[...] damit die Lebenden erkennen,

dass der Höchste Gewalt hat

über die Königreiche der Menschen

und sie geben kann, wem er will,

und einen Niedrigen darüber setzen."

Daniel 4:14 (German bible version)

Daniel sees that the turning point is when Nebuchadnezzar shows mercy to the poor:

"break off your sins by being righteous, and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor."

Daniel 4:27b (English bible version)

In German language that is: "mach dich los und ledig von deinen Sünden durch Gerechtigkeit

und von deiner Missetat durch Wohltat an den Armen, so wird es dir lange wohlergehen."

Daniel 4:24b (German bible version)

Thank you Jesus, that you took over our sins and our imperfection - on the cross.

Thank you that you already have done the sacrifice.

So that we can live by your #GRACE. From mercy to mercy. AMEN
